February 2017, Webbers has won a Feefo Gold Service award, an independent seal of excellence that recognises businesses for delivering exceptional experiences, rated by real customers.


Created by Feefo, Trusted Service is awarded to businesses that use Feefo to collect genuine ratings and reviews. A badge of honour, this accreditation remains unique as all the awards are based purely on the interactions with verified customers. This feedback has been collated by the Feefo review platform, with the accolades being awarded based upon performance.


Webbbers met the criteria of collecting at least 50 reviews between January 1st 2016 and December 31st 2016, and achieved a Feefo service rating of between 4.5 and 5.0.

Founder members of the “Guild of Property Professionals”, Webbers are forming part of a collective two day, West Country property show in London and Surrey at the end of March.

Managing Director Malcolm Prescott explains “we have been exhibiting properties across the country for many years now and even though buyers can look at homes on-line, we have found that they would still prefer to talk direct to the local property experts - nothing replaces the personal touch and real local experience that we can offer”.  Malcolm goes on to say “for the first time, we are teaming up with several other quality Guild of Property Professional agent members from across the South West to host a collective show of properties, to hopefully ensure that every visitor to the show will see something of interest”.

The Exhibition will be held in the stunning 50ft frontage prominent “Park Lane” offices in London on Friday and on the Saturday Webbers will set up at “Seymours” who are Surrey based estate agents, and who are also part of The Guild network. 

Guild of Property Professionals CEO Marcus Whewell said “This is an excellent initiative, but what we would expect of the estate agents in our group – they are forward thinking, local and experienced professionals who recognise that waiting for buyers is not an option in today’s challenging market, they are clearly demonstrating to their clients that they are extending their search for quality buyers “out of the area” and not just relying on the internet – which I am afraid many do”

Hilary Rhodes and Merryn Parnell from Webbers in Launceston are celebrating after becoming an accredited Relocation Agent Specialist.


 The accreditation was awarded by Relocation Agent Network and is achieved by completing a comprehensive online training programme, The Importance of Service.


A national network of independent estate agents (of which Webbers is a member), Relocation Agent Network introduced the training programme to ensure each of their members provides the very highest customer service to those relocating around the UK.


To be successfully accredited, participants must complete three phases of learning, which begins with four training sessions on the importance of customer service. This is followed by three online seminars covering the Relocation Agent Network Referral Process and how best to help customers who are relocating around the UK. Finally, participants must convert their theoretical learning into a practical skill set by delivering assistance to three relocating customers.


By working with fellow members across England, Scotland and Wales, Relocation Agent Network members provide an exclusive relocation referral service to customers. For those relocating to Launceston, Webbers guides their customers through the daunting task of moving to an unfamiliar location. This includes local area information on schools and amenities, popular neighbourhoods and (of course) finding the right property for them. The introduction of a Relocation Agent Specialist to the Webbers team, ensures that this process is made even smoother.

There are many reasons why people move home. Even in what may be considered a "normal" market, home-sellers and buyers naturally have a thirst for knowledge and understanding. They also need that all important ingredient "CONFIDENCE.


So what is it that buyers and sellers need to drive up confidence?


There are a few key factors, for many that starts with affordability  and, at the present time, UK mortgage interest rates are still remarkably low and all predictions suggest that if there is a rise in Bank rates it will be minimal, say a quarter of one percent, and not until the latter part of the year.  Therefore, it would seem to follow that the better fixed rate products will be available now rather than later on this year!


"House prices are another key factor" explains Malcolm, "in general terms people like to see that house prices are either stable or, better still, moving in an upward direction. It may surprise many that figures from the official house price index show that house prices did rise across the UK by around 7% last year, even after the referendum, which demonstrates the resilience of the U.K. housing market. Looking at 2017, the view is that house prices may rise a little this year, 3-5% on average, whilst the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) are predicting 6% and that is what we all need to see - steady growth!


Choice - "buyers naturally like to have plenty of choice, after all people invest lots of time, effort and money in the house buying process and, therefore, they will want to be sure that they have made the right move and found a home that meets with their "dream home" image.  Traditionally, this is the time of year when agents can expect a good number of fresh instructions, people often get ready for selling early in the year - certainly ready for March/April at the latest. 


Malcolm goes on to say, "the early Spring market is still one of the very best times of the year to sell a property; year in, year out at Webbers our sales activity has a real boost at this time of year, so home-sellers get your home ready for the market now, ask a genuine local, qualified agent along to advise what you should do to make the very best of your home".

Webbers Estate Agents pride themselves on their service for clients but for Charlie the cat they went the extra mile. 


Webbers were selling the home of Stephen and Jackie Matthews who had plans to move away from the area and they had concerns for their cat, Charlie, a much loved pet.  As Charlie was 15 years old and had lived at the property for all that time they were worried that he would find it hard to settle into a new home or even if he could find one as, at 15 years old, he was a cat ‘of a certain age’. 


However, Charlie had the staff at Webbers championing his cause!  The Edwards family came to view the property and were keen to purchase the house as their new home. During discussions Webbers agent, Clair Bennett, introduced Charlie to Mr and Mrs Edwards and their daughter, Evie. Charlie liked to accompany the viewings of his home to vet potential buyers and Clair mentioned that he was in need of a new family. Luckily for Charlie, the Edwards family not only wanted to buy the house in Mountfields Avenue, Taunton, but also were happy for Charlie to stay put! So a few months later Mr and Mrs Matthews are on their new adventures safe in the knowledge that Charlie’s life has continued as before in his familiar surroundings with a whole new family.


Mr Matthews, Charlie’s previous owner said, "When we decided to move house we knew leaving our home of 23 years would be difficult but it turned out that leaving Charlie was much harder. So we are so grateful to the staff at Webbers for their help and especially grateful to the new owners for accepting him as part of their family. We can never thank them enough."


Charlie, in the meantime, has been busy making great friends with 8 year old Evie and getting to know the Edwards’ dog Sweep.


“After a bit of a Mexican standoff in the first few days, Charlie and Sweep are now getting on fine” said new owner Mr Edwards. “Mind you, there is no doubt that Charlie is boss. In fact Sweep is a bit scared of the cat. Charlie spends a lot of his time keeping Evie company in her bedroom and they’ve already become firm friends. We were pleased to take Charlie on and have a new member of the family to share a purr-fect Christmas with!”

Webbers  is celebrating after winning a Customer Relocation Award and winning the Relocation Agent Network’s prestigious 2016 Best Agent South West Regional Award at the Relocation Agent Network National Conference and Awards Dinner. Held at the Sofitel Hotel and Conference Centre, Heathrow on Friday 18 November, the Customer Relocation Award recognises nine estate agents that have generated the greatest number of referrals through the Relocation Agent Network referral scheme and our ability to achieve customer satisfaction and a proven record of helping relocating buyers move in and out of the area.

Referrals are an important element of the Relocation Agent Network membership. Should a customer plan to relocate to another area of the country, their local Network agent can recommend that the member in the destination location assist in their move. As each of their area’s selected local experts, as considered by Relocation Agent Network, members are able to offer customers the very highest standard of customer service.

Following Brexit and an unsettled sales market I am pleased to say that the adverse is true of the rental property market, in fact in our Bideford Office, July &  August have been particularly busy and September was the best ever financial month for rentals. October and November are also proving to be very busy.

We have a large number of applicants looking for rental property but not enough property available to meet this demand. 


We need more Landlords and rental property.

One thing is certain; In this shaky market, investing in buy-to-let property is still an attractive option over savings and with some of the best interest rates ever and high rental yields, there is still a very good reason to invest in property.
